| Sorry everyone I ambehind a bit on things!!
Artist of the month is Karen: I have three wonderful daughters and 4 terrific grand children ranging from the ages of 7 and 3 months. Two boys and two girls. I've always been the artsy kid and my love for dolls began at a very early age.
In 2003, I stumbled across a reborn Berenguer doll on eBay and was totally fascinated. I remember saying to myself, oh I can do that!, so I began researching to get more information on how to go about doing it. There was very little information back then and the paint of choice were the craft acrylics. I had been painting figurines for numerous years before then and I knew craft acrylics weren't such a great medium. I bought my first Berenguer anyway and immediately disassembled it. Sadly, it remained in that condition until 2009 when I lost my day job and my sister in law offered to get me the supplies to begin my endeavor. Once I received my supplies, I froze with terror. What if I messed it up? Then I remembered old Sleepy Berenguer in storage and quickly got her unpacked. I stripped her and shaved her head(sanded the painted hair smooth) and began practicing. I stripped it numerous times and repainted until I felt comfortable enough to try the real kit. That practice paid off for me as now I am addicted to this art form.
Beyond reborns, I enjoy doing lots of different arts and crafts. I recently discovered the world of needle felting and enjoy making what I call Little Cuddlers.
I am doing my first arts and craft fair at the end of March this year. My tables will be filled with reborns and felted sculptures. I don't think this particular fair has seen either art form yet.
Love and hugs, Karen Blue Fairy Babies

Let's see. Hubby and I have been married 46 yrs, had 4 children. We have 8 grand children - 6 girls, 2 boys and in June our 4th great gran will be arriving. Life is always interesting around with 4 furbabies (dogs) the oldest 3 are rescues that we took in when they were approx 6 mos old. I love making porcelain dolls, reborning, knitting, crocheting and an avid gardener. Oh I'm not your typical great granny, I love playing in the mud with my jacked up truck - the dirtier it and I get the better it is. | |

| Congrats ladies.... Karen, have you posted pictures anywhere of your felted cuddlers? I'd LOVE to see them. I saw some felted stuff on etsy and thought, oohhh, I want to. But then I remembered that I don't have time to reborn, so NO more projects until I have time to do the ones I've already got...would LOVE to see yours though. Jan, You're quite the active Granny, huh? I used to do porcelain dolls, 20 something years ago, but reborns are (I think) what my heart was SEEING when I was doing porcelain. I learned from a master, so they were beautiful dolls, but of course, no one would ever mistake one for a real baby, so NOW I have to learn how to root a head of hair that doesn't look like it escaped from a mental institution. Congratulations ladies..... | |

| Thank you, Linda. I'm really excited about the craft fair also. I just hope I sell something! LOL People may not be expecting high prices at this fair as it seems all of the previous booths were more crafty than arty and reborns are arty, for sure! If anything, I'll pass out a lot of business cards and maybe get a custom sale out of it. | |
